Junior Rugby League

Overview

Our season runs from April to September.

 

All tackle players must wear a mouth-guard and rugby boots. Headgear is optional. 

All Girls League Tag players must wear rugby boots. 

 

All players receive a training shirt, game day jersey, shorts and socks. Registration includes player insurance and PlayNRL Rewards which entitles the player, coach and all registered volunteers to 1 FREE ticket to every round of the Telstra NRL Premiership.

 

All players also receive 1 FREE sausage sandwich after each home game at Greenway Oval #2.

Mini

Ages 4-7

U6 & U7 participate in the TackleReady program in line with the NRL’s Player Development Framework. The program allows participants to learn safe and correct techniques, preparing them for the tackle version of the game. 

All Under 6 competitions will be played under the League tag format for the entirety of the season.

Under 7 participants will also commence their season under League Tag rules whilst they complete the TackleReady program. At its conclusion, participants will graduate into the tackle format for the remaining weeks of the season.

Under 8's & Under 9's

U8 & U9 have their own special rules and the elimination of scrums. There are 8 players per team on the field at the time. Boys and girls play in the same teams.

The essential info:

  • 4 x 8 minute quarters

  • 6 tackles in a set.

  • Pass twice in every play.

  • First Receiver wears a Yellow Vest (U8 and U9) and Dummy Half wears a Pink Vest (U9 only). Both players can run the ball, be tackled and not turnover the ball to the opposing team.

  • Goal conversion kicks.

  • Kicking is not allowed in the U8s.

  • Kicking is allowed in U9s play but no bombs allowed.

Mod 8/9

Mod 10/11

Under 10's & Under 11's

  • 6 tackles in a set.

Under 13's & Under 14's

  • 13 players per team on the field

  • 2 x 25 minute halves

  • 6 tackles in a set

  • Goal conversion kicks.

  • Kicking is allowed in play


Grand final series is applicable for U13 & U14’s, if the team is the first qualifier.

Aged 15 and above

The essential info:

  • 13 players per team on the field

  • 2 x 25 minute halves

  • 6 tackles in a set

  • Goal conversion kicks are worth 2 points

  • Kicking is allowed in play

  • Defending team must stand back 10 mtrs

  • Referee and 2 x Touch Judges


Grand final series is applicable for U15+, if the team is the first qualifier.

International 15+

Girls Tag U12

Girls Tag Under 12's

U12’s have 8 players per team on the field at a time.

The essential info:

  • 2 x 20 minute halves

  • 6 tags in a set.

  • Pass twice in every play.

  • Dummy Half wears a Pink Vest and First Receiver wears a Yellow Vest. Both players can run the ball, be tagged and not turnover the ball to the opposing team.

  • 1 marker

  • Goal conversion kicks.

  • Kicking is allowed in play but no bombs allowed.

Girls Tag Under 14's & Under 16's

U14 & U16’s have 11 players per team on the field at a time.

 The essential info:

  • 2 x 25 minute halves

  • 6 tags in a set

  • No minimum passes

  • 0-2 markers

  • Goal conversion kicks.

  • Kicking is allowed in play


Grand final series is applicable for Girls Blue Tag, if the team is the first qualifier.

Girls Tag U14/16

Home Ground Advantage

The Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Stags home ground is:
Greenway Oval #2.

Shepherds Drive, Cherrybrook

 

Greenway Oval #2 has a new community clubhouse (completed in 2022) overlooking the oval. The facility includes a kitchen, large social room, meeting rooms and bathrooms.

 

The next stage of construction is due to begin soon. This will include: 

  • Changerooms & associated sporting amenities (e.g. First Aid & Referee Rooms)

  • Canteen

  • Club storage

  • Multi-functional area

 

Part of these works will also include the conversion of the existing changerooms to public male and female toilets and the creation of an accessible toilet.
